The Scion tC joined the roster for the 2005 model year built off of the Toyota Avensis platform. Although a compact coupe, the tC boasts a wheelbase long enough to provide a surprisingly spacious interior and its hatchback trunk is also a departure from models typical to its segment. The Sicon xA was replaced with the xD, a similarly styled five-door subcompact hatchback, in 2007 for the 2008 model year. Over its first two years, the Scion xD sold approximately 38,500 units, a respectable number given the competition. It was also named the most reliable new automobile for 2009 by Consumer Reports.

Scion is a Toyota-owned brand designed to attract a youthful demographic interested in affordable yet stylish vehicles. First introduced officially at the 2002 New York Auto Show, Scion presented two concept cars, the bbX and the ccX. Both would wind up as staples in the Scion lineup as the xB and the tC, respectively. Scion cars were first launched in California during June of 2003 and did not hit the East Coast for another eight months. By June of 2004, the nationwide rollout was complete. The first models offered were the xA and the xB. The xA premiered as a five-door subcompact hatchback and was made available with either a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission. The xB was a bit more distinctive as a subcompact wagon combining Scion parts' smooth lines with a retro-boxy body shape.
Scion dealers offer "no haggle" pricing, similar to Saturn. This has been a successful marketing strategy for the brand, as it takes away the burden of negotiating. Another trait Scion is known for is offering its model with one trim level, which helps keep prices down, as well. True to its cutting-edge image, Scion has employed various types of new media to do its marketing, including producing viral commercials and creating posters aimed at directing potential buyers to several Scion-based websites. Since its arrival, Scion has built a reputation for innovative advertising and hospitable customer service to go along with its fashionable and reliable fleet of vehicles and vehicle parts.

Scion May Go Global
As reported by Automotive News, Toyota Motor Co. plans to extend its Scion youth-oriented brand to global markets. Being a subbrand of Toyota in the US targeted at the younger buyers, Scion spread to Canada in 2010, and at the moment, Toyota executives consider spreading the brand to other countries of the world, especially Asia and the Middle East. Analysts say that spreading the brand further might be complicated for Toyota. Even in the US, Scion is sold only through Toyota dealers - it's not a stand-alone brand. Another reason for hesitations is the model range. After Scion adds the iQ microcar and the FR-S sports car, the range will grow from three to five models, which is insufficient for a brand that plans to spread worldwide. In addition, some of the Scion models are rebadged as Toyotas outside the United States, e.g., the Scion xB is sold as Toyota in Japan, and the Scion xD is the Toyota Urban Cruiser in Europe. Around 70 percent of Scion buyers are new to any Toyota brand, and their average age is the youngest of any U.S. auto brand. As Scion boss Jack Hollis mentioned at an introduction of the Scion iQ in Detroit, The lack of youths buying cars is not a U.S. problem; it's a global problem. A lot of distributors are interested in Scion. We are experimenting around the globe.Jan 12, 2013
2012 Scion iQ Pricing Starts at $15,995
The all-new Scion iQ minicar, that the US fans have been waiting for will be available in the U.S. markets with the starting price of $15,995. The Scion iQ was first revealed as a concept car at the 2009 New York Auto Show. It's arrival to the USA was delayed by the Japanese tsunami and earthquake. The new vehicle is equipped with a 1.3-liter 16-valve four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 90 horsepower. The power unit is mated to a six-speed continuously variable gearbox. The fuel efficiency is estimated 36 mpg in the city, and 37 mpg on the highway. The 2012 Scion iQ goes 0-60 in 11.8 seconds. The vehicle rides on 16-inch wheels. "To make more passenger room, the heater blower was moved and the glove compartment was deleted from the passenger footwell. Instead, a cargo tray is under the front passenger seat. As a result, the dashboard is asymmetrical. That allows the front seat to slide farther forward and make room for a back-seat passenger." The Scion iQ will be available for sale later this year.Jan 10, 2013
Scion Concept Teased Prior to New York Show DebutCustomer reviews:
Toyota has just revealed a short video teaser of its North American-spec FT-86 sports car that is reportedly to be marketed under the Scion brand. Even though a new Scion Concept will only be unveiled at the New York Auto Show on April 20, 2011, the teaser shows a shape nearly identical to the FT-86. With the rear-wheel drive sports coupe, which is likely to go by the name FT-S, the Scion brand hopes to inject some fresh blood into its lineup. No further details have been revealed, but most automotive observers predict that the new Scion will take power from a Subaru-sourced 2.0-liter boxer engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as seen under the hood of the FT-86. The actual production version of the Scion Concept is expected to hit U.S. dealerships in late 2012.Jan 08, 2013
Great Scion - by Alexander K., Jan. 11, 2013
4/ 5starsI purchase these filters on all of my vehicles (past and current). I had lots of gas savings on my Scion Highlander 2005, about 60 miles per tank more with K&N, but with 2008 model I didn't have any difference. But the ease of going up to speed was better with K&N in it. On the current Scion I felt a good change in acceleration as well, haven't tested MPG yet.
Good Scion Car - by Desmond Lee., Jan 09, 2013
